About
Editor's Note: Course closed and redesigned as Cabot Citrus Farms.
The Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club is one of two championship golf courses at the club. Named after the numerous pine trees that cover the course especially along the fairways, it feels far removed from the Florida coasts. Tom Fazio designed the course and it is considered not only some of his best work, but one of the best courses in the state. It is a tight golf course that is notorious for its vast waste areas and bunkers. Although it has a modest length of 7,259 yards, there is plenty of length within the layout with many of the par 4s stretching past 400 yards. There are two small lakes that come into play. The fourth hole is one of the most well known, and most photographed, in the state. It is a par 5 with a treacherous waste area dominating the right side all the way to the green.

Greens in bad shape
Pine barren greens are in bad shape. Fareways are good. Some tee boxes need some work done.
Great Course !!!!!!!
Price was reduced due to airrated greens and tee boxes. This is a great course anytime. I haven't played here in many years and could not wait to get back. very challenging.
Great track
Would have given 5 stars on course condition but the greens got hit by a fungus. Still was awesome!
Ocala men
Needs lots of work with lots of bare spots played here before but it wasn’t near as nice
Looks like the place has gone downhill
We’ve been playing this course (both) Pine Barrens for over 10 years, and have never seen it in such bad shape. The greens were very slow with rough spots, the fairways were ok but the whole course needs watering badly.. there are a lot of unmitigated weeds where there used to be well manicured grass. All the staff is different ( they are friendly) and new except the starter. It looks like the previous owners sold the courses, but it sue has gone downhills. Not sure if we’ll come back. We travel 1 hr to play, but it’s not worth the trip anymore.
Good Track
Nice layout, despite some pins in borderline unfair positions. Greens were nice, a few dry patches on the outer edges. Some rain would really help out but the bones are there.
