About
Editor's Note: Course closed and redesigned as Cabot Citrus Farms.
The Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club is one of two championship golf courses at the club. Named after the numerous pine trees that cover the course especially along the fairways, it feels far removed from the Florida coasts. Tom Fazio designed the course and it is considered not only some of his best work, but one of the best courses in the state. It is a tight golf course that is notorious for its vast waste areas and bunkers. Although it has a modest length of 7,259 yards, there is plenty of length within the layout with many of the par 4s stretching past 400 yards. There are two small lakes that come into play. The fourth hole is one of the most well known, and most photographed, in the state. It is a par 5 with a treacherous waste area dominating the right side all the way to the green.

Closest to uk golf courses in Florida
Great course well designed with sweeping fairways and superb slopes on all greens a great test for all levels !!
Pre-Cabot Citrus
I wanted to play this course and see everything prior to Cabot revamp of facility. So glad I did. Staff were all personable and professional!
Cabot, Nova Scotia is my absolute favorite course in the world but. . . .Cabot Citrus may move up to my No. 1.
over priced coursed bad shape
This course is over priced people said new owners took over and going to shu.t down if that is case it should not be 129 dollars to pay, greens bad fairways bad i used my golfnow incentives to pay less it should not have been that way this golf course is a 45 dollar golf course. if new owners take over they may want to consider price if they keep it high, they to will be out of business early. Pace of play was terrible 5 and a half hours to play the group in front was terrible, they were told to pick pace up. We let them get on first green and putt, par 4 365 and i hit we caught them on 3 hole and waited every hole, they didnt care, i hope they see this, they dont know golf. people need to stay away from this golf course and new owners will not change.
Pine Barren World Woods
Another excellent Tom Fazio designed golf course. All of the important facets of the course (greens, tee boxes, and fairways)were in very good shape. Course was very fair and holes not too tight.
Cart paths showed their age but didn’t affect the golf.
Pace of play was just fine. I would definitely play this challenging golf course again.
Hope the changes are for the better.
From what I understand we will be loosing a real treasure. Great piece of older Florida gonna be “updated”. Business is business and I hope what comes out in the end isn’t slick.
Will go back once the construction is done.
Fun
Had a fun day playing the Pine Berrins at World of woods. Nice layout, with some challenging holes. We played it because it was rated in top 100 courses by golf digest. Not sure it deserves that rating and the price is a little steep. But we did enjoy playing it.
Get it while you can
Excellent golf course. Word is new owners are going to totally redo course. New clubhouse, restaurant, condos, stay and play resort. One more month then closed 1-2 years for total renovations.
One of the best
Played Pine Barrens on March 6th. Have been fortunate enough to play some of the best courses in North America over the last 40 years and it is in MY top 5. Fabulous layout no gimmicks just straightforward course design of the highest quality.
great course had to play it again before it is closed for renos by the new owners and will most likely become unaffordable.
Amazing place BUT
Pine Barrens is the upper echelon of golf places. My only concern is about it becomes Cabot Citrus Farms and resort style they increase their price to $300+. Im to the understanding this is happening and it’s sad. They need to leave it be
Gorgeous Pine Barron's
This an immaculate course, the fairways the greens the tee boxes is just gorgeousness. When I stepped on the tee box and looked down the fairway it was breathtaking. The hazard areas blending in with the pines and the rolling green fairways were like I had died and gone to heaven. Some holes you just stand on the tee box and admire the beauty of the design and how perfectly manicured it really is. It feels like you're playing at Pinehurst. The staff was great The Marshall I met on the first hole had a great conversation with wonderful man wish I could remember his name gave me a complimentary book about the course since it was my first time there helped out tremendously. With that being said unfortunately I wasn't able to complete my complete 18 holes due to arriving on the back nine there was a group of three and a group of two that were not there before me. The woman in the man played exceptionally slow almost to the point that it was like they owned the place. The three gentlemen ahead of me had to wait for them and I in kind waited for them knowing that it was not their fault but once I reached whole 16 the sun was going to be down and about 5 minutes I decided to head for the clubhouse and go home. That would be the only negative of my experience but other than that it was perfect. Can't wait to try the oaks course.
Nice course. You can tell it's been sold and not much maintenance being done. Needs alot of TLC to bring back to prestine shape. Fairways were good and lush. Greens were slower than expected. Sand and waste area were difficult to play from but overall not bad. I booked on line and got a deal for 57.00 worth every penny. Regular rate of 109.00 is too high in my opinion. I will play again at the discounted rate.
Regret…
Pine Berren - I regret waiting so long to play this course. It is one of the best I’ve played in Florida. There is nothing bad to say other than it’s closing In June. Cabot links bought the property and plans to spend 18 months renovating the 2 courses. I can’t wait to play it again. If you have a chance to play it, do it. You’ll love it.
