The Senator Course at Don Shula's Golf Club in Miami Lakes gets a makeover
The Senator Course at Don Shula's Golf Club, like the old coach himself, is getting a new look. The coach lost 30 pounds a few years ago on a new diet, and the golf course is getting new bunkers, new Champion Bermuda greens and Celebration Bermuda on the tees during a makeover in the summer of 2013. Situated in lake-laden Winter Haven, some 47 miles southwest of Orlando, the venerable Lake Region Yacht and C.C. is undergoing a major transformation, and is now known as the Country Club of Winter Haven. The golf course, clubhouse, pool and tennis facilities will receive upgrades. Billy Casper Golf -- the largest domestic owner-operator of golf courses, country clubs and resorts -- will assume management of operations once the revitalized club reopens in November.
