DESTINATION GUIDES

Southern Florida Destination Guide

Southern Florida Transportation

If you are flying into Southern Florida, its likely that you'll fly into Miami International Airport. MIA is a major hub for most North American airlines and it offers non-stop flights to most major US cities as well as most major Caribbean and South American cities. If you're headed to Southern Florida's western coast, you may be able to find a flight into Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

If you are driving to South Florida, you can take one of Florida's two major coastal highways. I-75 and I-95 run along Florida's western and eastern coasts respectively. I-95 runs from Philadelphia and Washington D.C. down the East Coast to Miami. I-75 runs south from Georgia through Tampa to the Everglade, where it turns east to Miami. If you're headed to Lake Okeechobee, you'll have to get off these interstates and head closer to the middle of the peninsula. If you are headed for Naples, Marco Island or the Everglades, Miami International Airport is closer than Tampa. Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers has flights from Miami and Tampa International and several flights from commuter and smaller airlines.
