Saddlebrook at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
About
The Saddlebrook Resort boasts 36 holes of championship golf designed by Arnold Palmer. The resort sprawls across 480 acres of lush, rolling hills covered with groves of tall cypress trees and swaying palms that weave through sparkling blue lagoons. The Saddlebrook Course is the tighter and flatter of the two courses at the resort but the layout offers a mix of wide and narrow fairways. Palmer equipped the layout with beautifully designed par 4s and par 5s framed with moss-draped cypresses. Water is a more prominent feature on this golf course with ponds and lakes coming into play on 14 holes. There are also more than 50 sand bunkers that are strategically placed along the greensides and near the landing zones on a few of the doglegs. The course has a memorable finish with a lengthy par 4 that doglegs right with water all along the right side.

Great Track! Tough greens…
This was my first round on the Saddlebrook Course! (Previously played the Palmer course). Saddlebrooke course was tougher/tighter with more water. I really enjoyed the challenge.
To me the greens were too hard. You couldn’t get anything more than a wedge to stop and hold. That lead to a lot of super fast down hill putts from behind the holes. But overall a great experience.
Needs some upkeep
I was looking forward to playing at Saddlebrook. The entrance looks so nice but the greens and tee boxes need work. Large bare spots and uneven area on tees. Patches and pot marks on many of the greens.
The worst though were the sand traps. They had not been raked and contained more dirt than sand. The layout was nice and there is potential here but it is priced like a high end corse but does not live up to that level.
No way worth the money
Garbage course for 105 dollars. Played all over the country and had a better place for the money
I was really disappointed the courses and everything around it just seem so dated to me, tired and old
On course bathrooms are not cleaned and attended to enough. Dirty and no toilet paper.
Saddlebrook course
Some of the fairways were just dirt. Some of the greens not very good. 4 were temporary. Should have lowered the cost $20.
Love the course and staff but the conditions were awful and undisclosed
3 temporary greens an average of 50 yards prior to the greens under repair. I would not have played it had that been the case. The temporary greens were cut out of fairway and about 10 yards wide. That said, staff are friendly and the course design is solid under normal conditions.
Super Great day Except For The Heat
I actually booked the Saddlebrook course because I had not played it yet but the pro shop advised me to play the palmer course again because there were 3 temp greens on the Saddlebrook. Nice of them to advise me and I will go back TO PLAY THE SADDLEBROOK in the future. Everybody is always nice at this beautiful resort and conditions are always perfect. Play it while the prices are low. It is the same course in the winter !!!.
Great Value & Enjoyable Layout
Incredible value for a Saturday morning at just $35. However, this was due to 3 temporary greens which is understandable. Course conditions were great but not quite impeccable. Only real downside was trying to get food and beverages at the turn. It was a slow week at the resort but it was difficult the flag down an employee for bar service. Overall a good experience at a great price.
So much has changed.
Recently played Saddlebrook, the Saddle side and was unusually disappointed. I remember pre covid playing at it- was a luxury (no outside beverages, valet, plush greens and landscaping, truly a nice course considering) played yesterday 8-13 and will probably not be back for some time. The overall scenery just wasn’t what I remembered. Apparently there is a new owner…and in my opinion, there needs to be another new owner. Greens were not great, grass was half dead, landscaping looked like it hadn’t been touched in months. 3 holes that I can remember there was a flag posted in the middle of the fairway with grass trimmed way down to mimic a green with a hole in the middle, I was SHOCKED. If a green is under repair that’s one thing, this looked like it was the new norm for some previous months and you had to somehow maintain your score while putting on fairway grass. Bunkers were weeded, tee boxes had seen better days. In my best overall conclusion it looked as if it was headed for a course that you rough up and learn to play on, not one you go to when your game is top notch like it used to be. I wouldn’t pay over $30 to go there again.
Temporary greens were disappointing
There were 3 temporary greens that we had to play- which essentially made the short game on those holes useless. Rest of course was in great shape- looking forward to coming back soon!
Nice place
Great value but a little wet but very well maintained. My wife and I played and other than a couple singles that had to play through us it was good.
I would go back.
A Little Disappointed
First the guy told us the greens were in great shape and they just cut for smooth roll. This was not the case. The greens were sandy and okay. Wish someone told us that not 1 but 3 holes were in the middle of the fairway. Made it difficult to judge distance or even what we were doing. It was terrible. They have their sprinklers watering sidewalks and bunker. Misses the greens entirely. Grass was all over the fairways after they cut. If it wasnt for the coupon of $37 this would have been much lower rating. I just dont know why no one mentioned specific holes the green is in the fairway. Other than that enjoy the layout. Could use better amenities because the first 9 holes no cart person or water anywhere. Would play again. It is solid course just disappointing building it up to a friend to be let down.
Don’t bother!!
I played the Saddlebrook course for the first time. The green we’re about a 7 on stint and 2 or 3 temp greens. The whole course was soggy and bunkers were horrible. I recommend going elsewhere.
